We had a busy birthday week - as it was not only M's 1st Birthday, but also my mom's 70th and she came to visit with us and celebrate both.
The afternoon before Mom arrived, M's daycare closed early so the two of us went to the mall for a while to wait for dad to pick us up (due to a broken down car, a separate long story). It was a beautiful afternoon, and M enjoyed the walk in the stroller to the mall and all the people out. This is usually how she is in her stroller in public :) ....
When she looks back and shakes her head, she's responding to seeing a midget (dwarf? little person?) dressed in medieval looking garb and ranting to herself - priceless! Wish I had got that on film.
We all took Goma - as we've decided to call her - out Sunday night for dinner. M loves cousin Ian and I had to post this because I don't often get the laughing and smiling shots.
We got a great family pic with everyone looking - including the photo bomber!
Mom's birthday was actually the next day, so I took the day off and we headed out to Hood River for lunch and a nice drive through the blossoming fruit trees.
We saw a baby horse and baby goats!
they of course wouldn't do anything fun when I was filming.....
Then home for a nice dinner and M the chatterbox!
M also demonstrated how she like to ask for milk!
M's birthday was a couple days later, so another half day off work, lunch, a trip to the zoo, and a quiet dinner out with Dada. But first, a birthday morning surprise - a new table! She was so excited it was her size and sat and read some books (she loves books!)
Lunch ...
The zoo and the lions - they were out sunning themselves, which was neat. M knows the lion sound - roar! - and says it a lot, but I don't think she could recognize the female lions, especially through the glass.
She was more interested in the lion statues. Here's she's roaring with the baby lion.
And up close with the cheetah:
Dinner with mom and dad ... making fart noises:
The next morning we had her 1 year check up (and all the shots I forgot about)
Her stats:
Weight: 19 lbs 12 oz (50th percentile)
Height: 29 1/2 inches (63rd percentile)
Head: 18.27 inches (83rd percentile)
So she's a little skinny for her height, and her heads still a little big! But she's perfect to us :)
